Welcome to the Universe! This course will begin with an introduction to astronomy, after which we’ll move on to the history of astronomy from Greeks to Galileo, and from Newton to New Horizons. We’ll make friends with the night sky when we learn all about the planets and constellations, and this will be followed by a hands-on lecture as we take part in naked-eye astronomy. Have you ever wondered about what happened to Pluto? If so, then we have the answers for you! We’ll then delve into the world of stars, first learning about the earths nearest star, the sun, and then looking at distant suns and the life and death of stars. This will be followed by a lesson on the galaxies, mainly the Milky Way and beyond. We’ll also be learning about the Big Bang cosmology, and studying the Solar System in depth. This course will also cover some of your most curious and pertinent questions from the interesting world of astronomy such as the truth about the Black Hole, what Dark Matter and Dark Energy are, and if there really are aliens in space. Students will also get ample opportunity to indulge in hands-on astronomy and view planets and the moon through a telescope, and take pictures.

Hi! I'm Roshaan. A collection of stardust, forged in the cores of stars and assembled on planet Earth. A former medical student, I had to quit the medical field to pursue my lifelong passion of Astronomy. I strongly believe that education should be multispectral and allow one to feel both free and empowered at the same time. My goal is to set a strong academic footing of Astronomy in the Pakistani education sector and to promote the cosmic perspective of our place in space. I currently serve as the General Secretary of Lahore Astronomical Society and the Outreach Coordinator for The Planetary Society (USA).
