An Introduction to Performing Arts

A basic foundation course to introduce students to the colourful world of performing arts. This course will expose you to the different facets of performing arts, and show you why expression through performance is such an important part of life. In this course, you’ll learn what exactly performing arts are, and how they can impact different areas of your life. As students, you will acquire practical experience of every genre, and will get the chance to explore your own interest, thus being able to master any form you choose.

A basic foundation course to give orientation to al student s with different flavour of performing arts, This course will expose students to understands what performing arts are and how these are important in one's life, The students will also  hands on practice with each genre to explore their own interest for further leading to learn any specific form


  • To introduce Performing Arts with its 5 genres to the students
  • To provide orientation to five genres of performing arts in Pakistani context
  • To provide hands on experience in 4 major genre of Performing arts (theatre, dance, Music, Puppetry)
  • To provide theory along with practical training for students
  • To train at an extremely high standard that is of international recognition.

Learning Areas:

  • Introduction to Performing Arts with brief historical background
  • Dance and its few major forms (Classical, Traditional, Regional, modern, contemporary)
  • Body as canvas for performing arts
  • Vocal lesson to understand voice and utilization in performing arts
  • Shadow puppetry
  • Creating Characters
  • Creating stories to tell through body

  • All students will expose to the potential of different genre of performing arts.
  • All students will prepare small performance at the closing of the course

Fees include access to IT and library (no accommodation and meals). Formal tea at the beginning and end of the course. However, there are no sources of funding available for these courses for the time being.


  • Fees can be paid online via credit/debit card or via payment vouchers at the bank on campus.
  • If you are paying via voucher or at an ATM, please send us a scanned copy of the payment receipt at
  • All fees have to be paid 10 days before the course starts.
  • Student’s place in the short course is not confirmed until the fees is paid in full.

Please keep in mind that if you leave the course, you must advise the Lifetime Learning LUMS Centre in writing on and get written confirmation of the withdrawal. However, tuition fees will not be refunded; but you will receive a voucher which can be used to enrol for another course at LUMS in the future.  

It is essential that you meet the criteria below before you submit your application form:

  • Please complete all sections in the online application, failure to do this will result in your application not being successful. 



Once you have completed the online application and registered for your desired course(s), you will receive a confirmation email from the Lifetime Learning@LUMS team ( You can then make the payment online (via credit/debit card) or by downloading a voucher (and paying it at the Bank). You then receive an email with the invoice number that confirms your successful enrolment in the course(s).



  • Read up about the course in advance, so that you are aware of what is happening in the classes from day one.
  • Attend all the lectures and group activities for this course.
  • Submit all assignments and projects given to you on time.



The Lifetime Learning LUMS Centre reviews every application fairly and equally (on the basis of merit) and not on first come first serve basis.

  • A good grasp of the English language as most of the Lifetime Learning courses will be taught in English.
  • Minimum age requirement of 15+ years.
